Neighbours for Active Living, or “Neighbours” for short, is a novel programme combining healthcare and social expertise and resources to train volunteers to care for sick elderly in their own neighbourhoods. The programme is jointly developed by the South East Community Development Council (SECDC) and Eastern Health Alliance (EH Alliance).
“Neighbours” was officially launched on 25 January 2014, by Dr Maliki Osman, Mayor, South East District.
At present, the programme is available in Bedok, Siglap and Marine Parade. Over the next few years, we will expand the programme to more neighbourhoods in the east.
Mr Gerard Ee, Chairman of Eastern Health Alliance, and our guest-of-honour Dr Maliki Osman, Mayor of South East District, signed a volunteer's T-Shirt at the official launch of Neighbours for Active Living.
