Eastern Community Health Outreach
What Is ECHO
With the pressures of modern day living, it can be hard to lead a healthy lifestyle. Poor diet, lack of exercise and other unhealthy lifestyle habits have led to skyrocketing rates of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease in Singapore.
The Eastern Community Health Outreach (ECHO) Programme is a community-based, family-focused, three-year chronic disease prevention programme, offered in partnership with selected grassroots organisations specifically targeted to help the community make more informed and better lifestyle choices.
The ECHO programme includes healthy lifestyle activities and health screenings, which aim to reduce the community's risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. Registered ECHO participants will be invited to participate in Annual Health Screening, Physical activity and Nutrition Workshops and many other healthy lifestyle activities organised within the neighbourhood.
Within the 3-year programme, dedicated ECHO coordinators may also be regularly following-up with participants to provide encouragement and recommendations on the healthy lifestyle activities available.
Who is Eligible
Exclusively offered to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 18 and above, residing at selected constituency, with no known chronic disease (diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol).
